Hi there! I am a queer/transgender CELTA-certified English instructor. My pronouns are he/him/his.
I came out as gay in 2008. In 2012, I came out again, this time as transgender. Living as a queer person is not always easy, and I know how bad it can feel to hide that part of yourself. I started Queer English to help LGBTQ+ English learners, so they don't have to hide who they are in the classroom.
I am also a first-generation immigrant; my family moved from South-Africa to the United States when I was 11 years old. Although I am a native English speaker, I know how challenging it can be to experience a new culture, and how isolated you can feel until you find your new community.
